Joe's opera blog entry - final part07-Jul-2011
Out On My Arias! Well it had to happen eventually didn’t it? I was never gonna WIN it was I? There are only so many ‘sing offs’ one man can survive and, last Sunday, I found myself at the receiving end of the wonderful British Public’s fickle wrath with no more judge’s ‘Get out of Jail Free’ cards to cash in. The axe wielded, the guillotine set and Claire and I had sung our last aria. Shame I know folks but I was ready to leave to be honest. I was starting to dream in Italian and would wake up every morning humming that week’s song to..
Joe's opera diary part III01-Jul-2011
Opera diary part III - Three Strikes Three strikes and your... still in! I know, I know, yet another slug-out in the ‘sing off’, sorry folks. This time with an opera weary Andy Bell who unfortunately, when it came to his turn, came over completely blank and couldn’t remember his rather lengthy and wordy aria…leaving me with a clear line of sight so to speak (although I had actually sung it better the first time). We really felt for him as all of us, I’m sure, have woken up sweating in the dead of night having dreamt we are in that same, unpleasant boat&hellip..
Opera diary part deux 21/6 24-Jun-2011
Opera diary part deux 21/6 So as many of you who watched last Sunday on ‘PSTOP’ witnessed, I again had to slug it out like a battered prize-fighter in the bottom two. Somewhere I had frequented the previous week but had hoped to avoid quite so soon. This week I played the part of Leperello from ‘Don Giovani’, the servant avidly trying to ward off the advances of a lady to his master by listing his geographical sexual conquests. Really got my teeth into the part and had myself a prop made in the form of a scroll to highlight the comedy of this..
Joe's opera diary 13/0615-Jun-2011
This is the first part of Joe's diary while training to become an opera tenor singer, enjoy.. Opera Diary. 13/6 Well, it’s the day after my first show in which I ended up performing twice. Seriously, once was enough for my frayed nerves. My first aria was “Votre Toast - Toreador Song” from Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ which involved me having to act and sing like a matador and generally swan around the stage giving it the proverbial ‘large one’. This seemed a tough enough task even in the comfort of a rehearsal studio but when faced with the liv..

Tour Blog #221-Mar-2011
We arrived in Glasgow around 4pm on Wednesday after catching the train from London. I met up with the other lads at King Tuts in time for soundcheck and a bite to eat. It's so nice to be looked after when you're on the road and the guys at Tuts certainly go out their way to make you feel at home. Scotland holds some great memories for us as a band. We've played the Edinburgh Liquid Rooms, Barrowlands, even Hampden Park Stadium, but Tuts is up there with the very best in the country for good vibes. The only moan is that they have installed an air con unit at the venue. Part of the appeal ..
